Bejloqulu Se (/ˈbeʤlo/ /ˈqulu/ [hair (of body)] [alternate]) is a subtropical Town located in Merrowrock Dutchy, Tarnàg Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Bejloqulu Se is derived from the Tauric language, as Bejloqulu Se was founded by Zegfênm Parry, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Bejloqulu Se has a yearly average temperature of 29°C (84°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 33°C (91°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 25°C (77°F). Bejloqulu Se receives an average of 286 cm/y (112 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Bejloqulu Se covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3232 m (10603 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Bejloqulu Se was founded durring the early 14th century in summer of the year 1301, by Zegfênm Parry. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Bejloqulu Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Bejloqulu Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Bejloqulu Se is is constructed arround a semi-circular premissive cobblestone mainstreet, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to eachother at varrious points. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks, spikes, and fences to provide some protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. The minimaly adiquite has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

Bejloqulu Se is, in a word, disorder. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to place their homes. Yet there are small elements here and there which show the underlying structure of the community. It’s just so complex, organic, and flowing one can only understand what is a piece of the puzzle, but not what its neighbors are.

Bejloqulu Se has an animal control department which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the control, impoundment, and disposition of animals.

Cultural Notes

A substantial minority of the locals are descended from foreigners alien to their local neighbors. They may have been religious exiles, economic migrants, indigenous locals surrounded by the existing polity, or a foreign settlement conquered within the relatively recent past. The locals may not be enthusiastic about being ruled by others not of their kind, and their neighbors may look askance at the way foreign customs or even laws may be maintained.

Bejloqulu Se's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used embraces individualism and experimentation. It emerged as a movement against traditional, classical styles and sought to make buildings dynamic and fun while breaking the rules. The style incorporated elements of previous architectural styles in exaggerated and whimsical ways. Traditional, conservative leanings were void in this era, with most scholars of architecture agreeing it was a time of “anything goes.”.

The Xtabay near Bejloqulu Se are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Bejloqulu Se's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves square dance to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 3 via moments of science.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Bejloqulu Se was attacked by soldiers from another nation, with orders to raid Bejloqulu Se. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Bejloqulu Se lost 256 people, 399 livestock, and 61 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 60, when members of Bejloqulu Se's militia enacted an operation to destroy a particular enemy powerful weapon. The operation was complicated by freezing cold, such that the troops suffered frostbite. The conflict ended with a last stand against the enemy until a particular event occurred, which ended in defeat for Bejloqulu Se's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Bejloqulu Se's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
